Overview
LabConnect improves lives by partnering with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and clinical research organizations (CROs) to accelerate the development of new medicines around the world.
We are an independent, global, one-stop-shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor-made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our team in transforming how we analyze data. This role will focus on applying advanced analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) to uncover actionable insights across the organization. The ideal candidate will help us to understand how we can leverage the internal systems together for internal and external insights into our data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and implement ML/AI models to extract insights from structured and unstructured internal data sources.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and ensure high-quality data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
Work with the Power BI team to Develop dashboards, visualizations, and alert systems to support real-time data monitoring, query resolution, and customer-facing analytics.
Integrate Azure Synapse Analytics with other Azure services (e.g., Data Factory, Databricks, Power BI) to deliver end-to-end data solutions.
Partner with external collaborators (e.g., CROs, data vendors) to integrate third-party datasets and enhance model robustness.
Support internal initiatives providing technical expertise in data aggregation, cleaning, and AI-driven storytelling.
Collaborate with data engineers and architects to implement robust ETL processes and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage within Azure Data Warehouse environments.
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models and pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics to support enterprise data warehousing and analytics needs.
Stay current with industry trends in decentralized trials, digital health technologies, and regulatory AI applications.
Overnight travel may be required 1-2 times per year.
Education and Experience
Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related fields.
5+ years of experience in data science roles, preferably in clinical research, healthcare, or life sciences.
Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas), and data partitioning strategies
Proficiency in Azure Synapse Analytics, including experience with data modeling, pipeline development, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with clinical data standards (e.g., CDISC, SDTM) and EDC systems.
Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex data into business value.
Skills and Ability
Experience with AI applications in regulatory workflows to maintain compliance.
Knowledge of lab data systems, EDC systems, and real-world data sources.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
In-depth understanding of industry regulations and quality assurance practices, particularly within clinical labs and medical device environments.
